National
Action Plan on Breast Cancer
MISSION A critical national health priority is to
reduce morbidity and mortality from breast cancer in the United States
and, ultimately, to prevent the disease. The mission of the National
Action Plan on Breast Cancer (NAPBC) is to stimulate rapid progress
in eradicating breast cancer. STRATEGY The strategy for the Plan is
to serve as a catalyst for national efforts to coordinate actions
by government and nongovernment organizations, agencies, and individuals
to advance knowledge, research, policy, and services. By encouraging
new ideas and mobilizing partnerships, the Plan will strive to "jump
start" innovative, long-term efforts that will result in rapid progress
in the fight against breast cancer. GOALS The goals of the NAPBC are
to: · Identify and assess, on an ongoing basis, priority areas where
additional knowledge and work are needed to prevent and cure breast
cancer, to improve survival, to enhance the quality of life of those
with the disease, and to develop and implement strategies, actions,
and initiatives to address identified priority areas. · Promote and
foster communication, collaboration, and cooperation among diverse
partners necessary to implement NAPBC initiatives. · Ensure ongoing
evaluation of the effectiveness and quality of the implementation
of NAPBC goals.

grants and monies from the public and private sector with a goal of
more research and improved treatment modalities. Donations for operating
expenses are always appreciated.
